Siti Nuriati Husin-Friedman, a Malaysian born self-taught artist, started drawing faces and human figures at a very young age. At aged 13, she discovered portrait drawings and from then on drew portraits exclusively.
In 1996, Siti picked up pastel and for the last 10 years, she has been a commissioned portrait artist. After 6 years working as a secretary and commissioning portraits part-time, Siti finally decided that it was time to concetrate on art full time. Siti holds a Bachelor degree in Business Administration (Marketing) and a Diploma in Executive Secretaryship from MARA University of Technology (UiTM) Shah Alam, Malaysia.
In 2003, she discovered what she described as a childhood medium, colored pencil, and has been hooked on this medium since. That same year, Siti had her first solo portrait exhibition in UiTM-Perzim Gallery, Banda Hilir, in her hometown, Melaka. Subsequently, she has other shows and served as a juror for children's art competitions.
Siti now lives in Los Angeles with her husband and son. 2006 was the big year for her as she moved to another country and the opportunity to grow bigger in her art career became limitless. |
