There was a point in my life when I didn’t want anything to do with Art. I wanted to write. I wanted to become a prolific writer. I was in love with writers and books. I still am actually in love with anything printed, which is probably why I made my way into graphic design. I love to pick up a new magazine or something that I catch right off the press, move it ever so gently to my face, close my eyes and breathe in the chemical goodness of inks on paper. Life is good. As to Art, I am very into expressing my self non-verbally. If you were to meet me, I am not much of a talker. Or at least I am very much internally going though a struggle when I am confronted with anyone. I’ve had people tell me, what you are shy? I have definitely gotten better at covering my fear of people. I have to give my husband some props for that. He has given me the confidence to show what I don’t feel. You see people don’t know what I’m thinking. I can pretend I am confident and that is all people need. I don’t need to entertain them with my non existent humor. Just smile and listen. Which comes to my Art. I can entertain in other ways. I can create objects that people will want to look at and admire with me in another room. I don’t need to be there. I am still finding my voice after all these years and I like that you can’t peg me down as this type of Artist or that type of Artist. I am not interested in defining my style just yet. There should be no rules to Art. An Artist should create what he or she feels in as many different ways as possible. And this is what I do. You will notice that I may have a certain style, but all my pieces are their own individual unique entity. It could be I get bored easily and the more variety I have in my life the better I can think and move on to the next big adventure in life.
