My work is a personal journey into the topography of the human form. Many years ago I found these tiny images appearing in my journals as I travelled by train through Europe. I kept them private and hidden from public view because of their subliminal sensuality.

Later, my favorite printmaking teacher, Laura Stickney, discovered them in my sketchbook and encouraged me to enhance their scale to see what would happen. Suddenly, these small spirals of web-like fibers began revealing an intimate and inherent beauty. After much hesitation, I finally felt ready to share them with the world.

People’s impressions of the forms now bring me much joy – acting like a Rorschach test, my paintings often reveal more about the viewer than they realize. Some see animals; others envision bodies and still others find an intertwining of flower petals.

In my view, the images are like stained glass windows on the soul. I believe them to be inspired by memories of ancient sculptures depicting Greek Gods and Goddesses. In any case, I constantly revel in these mysteriously energetic lines that take flight and dance across my canvas…
